What's this about then?

For this project you will look at the important processes that make up the branding of a company and from this research go on to create (or art-direct) your own branding.​

​

Why are we doing this?

Branding is not just a logo. Branding is the process of building a brand. To be more specific, it is a strategy designed by companies to help people to quickly identify their products and organisation, and give them a reason to choose their products over the competition. Good branding should reflect the ethics of the company and their industry.

​

What do we need to cover?

For this six week project we will cover the following: Target audience theories (uses and gratification, hypodermic needle, demographics & psychographics), audience persona, level design principles, flow theory, writing a proposal, typography, colour theory, semiotics. Primary and secondary research. Looking at practitioners such as Paul Rand, Sagmeister & Walsh, Wolf Olins, Paul Scher etc. In short, a combination of practical and theoretical work.


During this project we will carry out some various task and workshops including the Nesta worksheet: Your Customers (03a).

What will I need to complete for the deadline?​

A style guide of your branding including the developments of how you got to the finished stage. Examples of company stationery or branded advertising.
